LISBON

It’s a city that embodies a grungy type of cool. And is quickly becoming a hipster mecca.

Staying in the neighborhood of Bairro Alto in Lisbon, you get a workout walking up and down the hills. I suppose that’s why Lisbon is famous for it’s streetcars. It is so reminiscent of San Francisco, until you begin to look a little closer and see the crumble and peel of aging buildings and the multi-colored spray paint on windows, walls, even on front doors. I think it’s beautiful. The city is bright and colorful. The sun has been bleaching out these streets for centuries and yet it still feels vibrant.

The brunch scene has certainly arrived here. You can find the perfect avocado toast and latte at Instagram ready cafes like Dear Breakfast or The Mill. And there’s a line waiting outside the door to let you know that the food is just as good as in the photos.
